Norfolk Wedding Summer Edition

Norwich Wedding Photographer Tells All

As a Norwich wedding photographer, I often find myself in picturesque locations, but this venue, with its marquee set by the water, was something else entirely. From the emotional ceremony to the lively reception, every detail came together seamlessly, creating a day that celebrated the beauty of love, family, and of course summer months in Norfolk.

Some weddings linger in your memory long after the day is over, and Ade and Alice’s riverside wedding was one of those truly unforgettable occasions. As childhood sweethearts who grew up together, their love story is both heartfelt and timeless, and their summer wedding by the River Bure perfectly reflected their connection.

In this blog, I’ll take you through the highlights of Ade and Alice’s wedding, giving you a glimpse into their special day and showcasing what makes weddings in Norwich so magical.

A Stunning Norfolk Venue for a Summer Wedding

Ade and Alice’s wedding was held just outside Norwich, in a stunning marquee nestled along the banks of the River Bure. This idyllic spot was surrounded by vibrant greenery and bathed in warm sunlight—a quintessential English summer scene.

The marquee itself was beautifully designed, blending rustic charm with elegant touches. Flowing fabric drapes, twinkling fairy lights, and wildflower arrangements created an inviting and romantic atmosphere. The River Bure, winding gently behind the marquee, added a sense of tranquillity that perfectly complemented the lively celebrations.

For couples planning a summer wedding, this kind of setting offers a unique opportunity to celebrate outdoors while maintaining the comfort and practicality of a marquee. Whether it’s the golden light of an afternoon or the soft hues of a sunset, a riverside location provides a breathtaking backdrop for any wedding photography.

Morning Preparations Full of Anticipation

The day began with excitement as Ade and Alice prepared for their big moment. Alice got ready nearby, surrounded by her bridesmaids. The room was filled with laughter, chatter, and the soft rustle of fabrics as her dress was carefully hung, waiting to be worn.

Alice’s dress was a vision of elegance, with intricate lace detailing that caught the light beautifully. She paired it with a delicate veil and understated accessories, letting her natural beauty shine through. The bridesmaids, dressed in complementary pastel shades, added a soft, summery feel to the bridal party.

Meanwhile, Ade and his groomsmen prepared in a relaxed yet celebratory atmosphere. There were plenty of smiles and jokes as they helped each other adjust ties and double-checked pocket squares. Ade’s classic suit, paired with a subtle corsage, gave him a timeless look that perfectly matched the day’s romantic vibe.

As a photographer, these moments of preparation are some of my favourites to capture. They’re filled with raw emotion—anticipation, excitement, and a touch of nervousness—that tell the story of the day even before the ceremony begins.

The Ceremony: A Heartfelt Exchange of Vows

The outside venue was transformed into a serene and romantic setting for the ceremony. Rows of chairs were lined with floral arrangements, bathed in sunshine, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Guests took their seats, eagerly awaiting the arrival of the bride.

Alice walked down to the make shift aisle, her arm linked with her father’s. The moment she reached Ade, the love between them was unmistakable. They exchanged heartfelt vows, reflecting on their journey from childhood friends to lifelong partners.

There were smiles, laughter, and a few happy tears as they made their promises to one another. The beauty of the River Bure shimmering in the background, combined with the warmth of the summer sun, made the entire scene feel almost dreamlike.

Capturing these intimate moments—glances exchanged, hands held, and the joy on their faces—was a privilege. It’s what makes wedding photography so rewarding: preserving memories that will be cherished forever.

A Picturesque Setting for Family and Couple Portraits

After the ceremony, we moved into portrait time. The riverside location offered countless opportunities for stunning photographs. With the lush greenery and the calm waters of the River Bure, every angle provided a perfect frame.

The couple chose to have a mix of formal family portraits and more candid moments with their bridal party. The natural light that afternoon was ideal for capturing the soft, romantic feel of their day. Alice’s veil caught the breeze beautifully, adding movement and elegance to the portraits.

The Reception: A Celebration of Love and Laughter

As the guests made their way to the reception, the marquee was abuzz with excitement. Tables were decorated with rustic floral centrepieces and delicate linens, creating an inviting yet sophisticated atmosphere.

The reception began with speeches, a highlight of the day for many. Ade and Alice’s family and friends shared heartfelt stories that celebrated their journey together, evoking laughter and a few tears. From humorous childhood anecdotes to touching reflections on their bond, the speeches painted a vivid picture of the love surrounding the couple.

The meal was a relaxed and joyful affair, with guests mingling and enjoying each other’s company. The couple took time to visit each table, sharing warm smiles and heartfelt thanks with their loved ones. These moments of connection are some of my favourites to capture—small, fleeting interactions that speak volumes about the joy of the day.

Dancing Under the Stars

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the marquee took on a magical glow. Fairy lights twinkled overhead, and the gentle hum of the evening filled the air. Ade and Alice took to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife.

Their chosen song played softly as they swayed together along with their children, their love for one another shining through in every step. It was a moment that seemed to pause time, as guests gathered around to watch and celebrate this new chapter in their lives.

The dance floor quickly came alive as family and friends joined in, dancing the night away under the warm summer sky. Capturing the energy, laughter, and pure joy of these moments was a true highlight of the day.
